Deep indigo Kashans are the connoisseur's Kashan: rarer than the red-ground formula and more atmospheric, the field reading almost black until light finds the sprays of madder and ivory bloom within it.
The wool here is the soft, lustrous lambswool the town's interwar revival was famous for, and the drawing has the poised, unhurried rhythm of a workshop at full confidence. A formal carpet that behaves beautifully in modern rooms.
