The Reservation Deposit
Every zarif carpet is acquired individually, for one client. The Reservation Deposit secures a piece on your behalf, is credited in full towards its price, and is refunded in full should we be unable to source it.
Why a Reservation Deposit
zarif does not hold stock in the ordinary sense. Each carpet is a one-of-one piece, located and acquired individually — often from private hands, and often specifically for the client who has asked for it. The Reservation Deposit is what allows us to act on your behalf: it confirms your commitment to a piece, and it commits us, in turn, to securing it for you and no one else.
How it works
Once you have selected a carpet and submitted an acquisition request, we personally confirm its availability. When availability is confirmed, we issue a secure invoice for the Reservation Deposit; the amount is stated clearly and agreed before anything is paid.
On receipt of the Reservation Deposit, we proceed to acquire the carpet specifically for you. Before delivery, we arrange the remaining balance, and once final payment has been received, insured delivery is arranged.
The Reservation Deposit is credited in full towards the final purchase price. It is never an additional charge.
If we cannot source the piece
Occasionally a piece proves impossible to secure — a private owner reconsiders, or a carpet does not withstand our inspection. If zarif is unable to source the requested carpet, the Reservation Deposit is refunded in full, promptly and without deduction.
Once the piece has been acquired
Once zarif has acquired the carpet specifically for you, the Reservation Deposit becomes non-refundable. This reflects a simple reality: at that point, real costs have been incurred solely on your behalf — the acquisition itself, inspection, and preparation for delivery. We take this step only after availability has been personally confirmed with you.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights, including any statutory cancellation rights that may apply to a distance purchase and your rights in respect of goods that arrive damaged, faulty or not as described. Our returns and refund policies are set out on the delivery & returns page.
Payment
The Reservation Deposit is paid against a secure invoice; we will guide you through each step personally. Approved refunds of a Reservation Deposit are returned promptly to the original payment method.
